Job Description
As an Engineering Group Manager, you will manage a team of subject matter experts. You will be responsible for cultivating an evolving, rightsized workforce; overseeing performance, merits, and promotions;  team members careers through coaching, opportunity matching, and technical development; overseeing negotiation of their deployment onto multiple programs and reconciling demand conflicts; benchmarking their work standards and tools with other business units and with industry trends; and assuring that the Section's work products meet domain quality standards. These responsibilities will comprise approximately one-third of your time. With the remaining portion of your time, you will be a technical contributor in your area of expertise, providing technical support directly onto one or more product teams. In this capacity, you will be responsible for exemplifying best practices, balanced technical judgment, and superior work ethic.

Responsibilities: 
• Supply people, processes, and tools needed to meet the demand signals specified by project and program managers. Negotiate Statements of Work with the respective product managers
• Manage your direct reports' professional development (e.g., hiring, performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on performance
• Organize and equip the Group and assure that its staff are trained
• Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber
• Embody, promote, and coach the leadership principles and culture

Qualifications: 
• B.S. in Aerospace, Software. Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
• 2+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for career management of employees
• 6+ years of experience in at least one specialty area applicable to the space flight
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment while regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
• Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning or operations
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum 
 
Desired (but not required): 
• Advanced degree in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
• Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
