 Materials Technician (Plastics and Rubbers)

This position assists with engineering and testing activities specific to plastic and rubber materials. Work activities involve testing these materials as part of technical research and model development efforts.

Responsibilities:
- Work with technical staff to improve our facilities' capabilities with analytical characterization equipment. Examples include:
- SEM
- FTIR
- DSC
- HPLC
- Mass spectrometer
- Create manuals for operation of any new equipment we install
- Plan and perform testing based on schedules provided by technical staff. Examples of test equipment include:
- Material testing (tensile, impact, etc.)
- Part testing (as needed)

Qualifications:
- High school degree required, associate degree or some college in scientific field is desirable
- Proficiency in material characterization equipment is preferred
- Capability to read equipment manuals and blueprints is strongly desired
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Good organizational and prioritization skills required to keep track of testing samples and data
